Does anyone know a good, accredited, online degree or certificate program for journalism?

I've checked a few schools and so far the only ones I have found have crappy course descriptions that just reiterate the title of the course. I need info if I'm going to be spending my hard-earned money! I have looked at WingHill Writing School (is this place even legit?), A couple of those Online schools you see advertised on TV all the time (crap?), and UMass Amherst (great school, bad course descriptions, expensive). Any tips?

Free Open University has the best journalism program and it is completely free. Free Open University bachelors degree required almost 4,000 pages of writing and even more reading. Students check each others essays and even challenge each other.

It is a difficult program but it is Free.

I did a quick search for accredited online degrees and found the site below that shows some of the colleges. I think that there are many considerations to look into when trying to figure out what school is "the best". Similar to campus programs you need to contact a bunch of schools to weigh reputation, convenience, tuition and fit for you.

Do you think online degrees from an accredited school are accepted like an actual university degree?

Meaning is the University of Phoenix online degree just as good as a NC State University or University of Miami degree?

The higher the status and longer the history of successful graduates is, the more power is behind your degree. If Yale had online courses it would be worth more than any state school if you go into the classroom. An online degree should be no different than a degree from the classroom. You graduate all the same. I would, however, only be taking online classes from a college that also offers in class studies as well. There are a lot of rip off school out there right now trying to take advantage of sky rocketing tuition prices and the degradation of worth of college degrees. Many are accredited school but it doesn't mean its the same as coming out of even a local community college.

Take a look more of your local schools as well. If you go to a community or state school then you'll more likely pay less due to residency and you can do more research into successful alumni.

The only school that has an accredited MSW program is Florida State University (and it may only be an advanced standing program). The warning from the last poster is good to heed. Watch out for Canyon College which is an unaccredited school and program offering a BSW and MSW degree. DA

I'm a MET grad (2003) from Montana State University. I don't know of any online MET degree that's ABET accredited.

Not sure if ABET accredits 2 year programs? I'd go for a 4 year program in ME if you can handle it. You'll go a lot further with your degree then.
