Accredited online degree programs in global security and intelligence?

I am currently a senior in college and I'll be graduating this June with a BA in Sociology, but I am interested in furthering my academic career with some sort of degree related to global security and/or intelligence studies (i.e. BA in Intelligence Studies) because that is the career path I want to work towards. I was wondering if there were any reputable colleges/universities that offer strong online programs in that field.

Any input would be great. Thanks!

American Public University has a Masters program in Strategic Intelligence. You'll be able to enter this program once you complete your BA.

All three of 'The Big Three" offer a music major at the undergraduate level. Getting the right coursework can be a challenge.

* Excelsior College ( http://www.excelsior.edu)
* Thomas Edison State College ( http://www.tesc.edu)
* Charter Oak State College ( http://www.cosc.edu)

* Judson College of Marion Alabama ( http://www.judson.edu/content.asp?id=85819) offers a Bachelor of Arts in Music online.

* Berklee (yes, THE Berklee) teaches online as well but offers certificates only and no degrees. http://www.berkleemusic.com/ Their courses are absolutely outstanding.

* Boston University offers their MMus and DMus in music education online
* U Hawaii Manoa has their MME online
* U South Florida does a master's in music education online
* East Carolina State Univ. offers their master's in music education online.
* Austin Peay State College has their master's in music education online
* Auburn University has a master's in music education online.
* U South Florida teaches a certificate in Technology in Music Education online.
* Indiana University offers a Master of Science in Music Technology online.
* Duquesne offers their Master of Music in music education online.

This site has some great information on accredited online MBA programs:
http://www.ecollegefinder.org/online-ma ... ation.aspx

You can fill out some quick information on there for specific schools and they will send you more information for free. I would recommend contacting a number of the schools to find the best fit for you and your needs. Too often people choose to attend the first program they see without looking at other options. Good Luck!

What is the cheapest accredited online degree college that I can find to get my BA, Liberal Studies degree.?

I want a degree, but I am off work from an injury, so I don't have a lot of money. I do want to get a degree. I already have an associate, in liberal arts. I don't want to go into a classroom.

I'm going to Penn State right now, you can do the whole degree program online. It's also one of the few that offers a B. A. in Liberal Arts that way. They use Federal Financial Aid, so if you've filled out a FAFSA you could possibly qualify for grants or loans. Their tuition is competitive with the other colleges I looked into. They also did a great job transferring in previous credits I had built up.

Are online Masters degrees (from accredited institutions)...

New postby Nelle » 29 Oct 2012, 01:05

Are online Masters degrees (from accredited institutions) given less credibility than traditional schools?

I'd really like to get a Masters degree (either MIS or similar) from an online university mostly b/c it best fits my schedule. I don't want to waste my time though if employers will ignore these types of degrees for advanced positions.
What experiences (good or bad) have people had when applying for jobs or seeking promotions with an online degree?

If the school is a "real" school (this typically means one with a regional accreditation) then the bias is rapidly losing ground. Degrees from these schools are paid for by virtually all employers, will get you into other post grad programs (all other things being equal), and will get you a job.

Now is it as prestigous? Maybe not -- depends. For example, you can get an MS or PD (not a PhD) from Columbia. The degree doesn't mention that you didn't physically show up at Columbia.

Below is a good site that discusses such things.

Do employers acknowledge degrees that have been completed at an accredited online university?

I'm finishing out my bachelors degree through an online university. Do you think this matters to perspective employers?

I have a friend who works in Human Resources and I addressed the exact same question to her. Her suggestion is your best bet is a degree from the distance learning arm of a well-recogized traditional university, or at least of a well-established and accredited distance learning school.

However, legitimate online degrees seem to be better accepted for majors that tend to be knowledge-based, such as information technology areas, accounting, etc. Also, relevant work experience may augment the credibility of the online degree.

Personally, I think traditional degrees are overall accepted better because many times the person who is hiring you, had to take the "harder route" to obtain his/here degree. Many feel people who have online degrees have sort of "cheated" their way to a degree. Cheated as to "they didn't have to take all the "unnecessary classes" nor did they embody the complete college experience.

On the other hand, anyone who has taken even one on-line class is well aware that it require more dedication and you are given more work than the traditional same subject class.
