What is the "broker margin" for private jet charter?

Ive heard that charter brokers get an industry 5% discount that they absorb. But what do they usually take on top of that? Also, if the buyer uses a credit card, what is the service fee if any?

Yes, the industry standard discount given to brokers is 5%. That's where the broker makes their money. It's possible, but not likely, that the broker would mark the price up any more than that. Why would anyone pay more to a broker if they can get the flight from the charter company for less?

Credit cards fees vary widely depending on a number of factors. I recommend searching on terms like "merchant account".

Make sure you know who the owner is and who is operating the aircraft and who's part 135 cert the are operating under...And always check the insurance...insist on limits that will protect your assets. And always be named additional insured on the policy.

I am looking for an available domain name for my new business, a private jet charter brokerage service. i am looking for names that convey luxury air travel. english names are good but i would also entertain something with foreign flair.

Round trip first class tickets on a commercial airline from Houston, TX, to Phuket, Thailand, cost $13000 and up per person. It sounds like it would be cheaper to charter a private jet! But how much cheaper?
No, not joking. With 3 or 4 people flying together, that comes to more than $50,000 in airfare. It seemed reasonable that I could charter a jet for cheaper. I guess not. :-/

You must be joking. Ten hours of flight time on a chartered jet comes to about 43,000. The flight from Houston to Phuket would be well over 15 hours. Round trip then comes out to thirty hours, meaning you're looking at a bill of over 125,000 dollars =]

13,000 is really not bad at all for a trans-pacific flight in first, assuming it's a three class plane.
