Do you need any kind of special automobile insurance when crossing the border from the U.S. to Canada?

I was told you have to have an "attachment insurance" on your car insurance policy in order to cross the border.can someone plz let me know? I am planning a trip the beginning of June from Ohio, and would hate to drive that far and not be able to cross. Thanks in advance to all.

Ask your insurance company, they are the only ones who can tell you for sure, but usually car insurance is good for Canada and the US if you are insured in either country. Car insurance is mandatory in all Canadian provinces so you won't get in an accident with an uninsured driver unless you're unfortunate enough to come across some idiot who is driving illegally.
