A company called AFS-PetMed. They have a few plans. 1 for accident, 1 for accident and illness and a compprhensive cover.
Prices start from $17.60 per month up to $47.15 depending on the cover. This company is one of the few that will cover your pet for life if you sign up before the cats 8th birthday. I have had my dogs insured for nearly 7 years and have made a couple of claims with no problems. To get better info you can call them on 1300732172 or web address: www.afspetmed.com.au

good luck

No. Sofa is contents, and contents are covered on a named perils basis. Damage by an animal isn't a named peril.

If it was part of the building, like the woodwork, the damage by an animal WOULD be covered, as long as 1. the animal is not owned by you, or in your care, custody, & control, and 2. the animal isn't excluded on your policy (like rodents and vermin - mice, rats, fleas, etc, no damage by them is covered.)

Can you have cat insurance?

New postby Hipolito » 26 Oct 2012, 11:49

Okay my roommate has these 2 cats and we're moving right and he can't take them. I like cats kind of and these 2 are so incredibly awesome :( my friends mom told him they could take them and then last minute when I was walking out the door to take them, he called and said he couldn't anymore. So I said I would because no one else will and I love them and I don't want them to go to a shelter where they would be seperated (theyre bro and sis) or put to sleep.I move kind of frequently so I am a little nervous about it but my new roommates are cool with me having them.So now I wonder if there is car isurance, I mean now that I will be financially responsible, I wouldn't want to be responsible for one getting sick and dying on me :( I don't want to kill them. I have an okay job and all, taking care of them is okay, I just fear the worst thats all.

There are different plans from basic to extensive. You just pick whatever suits your budget.

I think insurance is a smart idea, but do your research before signing on...many companies have descrepansies that can be a problem. For instance, some companies will say that they will cover the cost of any digestive tract problem, yet they won't cover dentistry. The teeth are defenitely part of the digestive tract so it can be kinda misleading.

Just know what you're getting into.

Cat health insurance plans?

New postby Rodrick » 26 Oct 2012, 11:49

Are there any cat pet health insurance plans that most vets accept? And if so, do all of them have a fee that is connected? Please help, my cat's sick.

Anything pre-existing isn't going to be covered. They have so many restrictions that I wonder if any of them are worth it.

If you put $100 aside for your cat, then $20 a month for the life of the cat, you'll have a good base to work with in an emergency. Some of the plans want $50 a month, so doing it yourself is almost better.

CAT INSURANCE! Which company to go with? (UK)?

New postby Krysta » 26 Oct 2012, 11:49

Hi all,
I am about to insure my cat! He is a young tabby (1 1/2 years old). His recent MOT showed him in perfect health. He has his catflap and comes and goes as he pleases.

However, I am lost in the Pet Insurance jungle! I have been told to look for the max. amount per year rather than condition - Axa does a good one. £11 per month. Excess is £50.
Petplan is also good, but more costy.

What insurance do you have? Write the companies down, a few details about your cat, and the pro's and con's!
Thank you!
None of the companies that have quoted me have asked whether he is an indoor or outdoor cat. Outdoor cats are at higher risks for accidents or injury, whereas indoor cats are at higher risks for long term illness.
I hear ya, Honey Bee! I too, have considered this - back and forth. But there is still that ''what if'' something would happen too soon (hit by car etc) - then £24 in my savings wouldn't go very far! Long term, yes, short term? Don't know! I totally see your point though.

You will probably have an easier time getting better rates if your cat was an indoor cat.
