Loan Repayment

Military Student loan repayment question?

New postby Klara » 29 Oct 2012, 18:04

I already signed up for the Army. I was wondering if the student loan repayment includes Parent plus loans? My mom took one out for me back in college.

When I worked at MEPS for the Guard a couple years ago, I know we would only accept student loans in your name. The government wouldn't pay loans in your parents name for your service. I would say your chances of getting it are unlikely but definately ask.

Go to your bank and show them your papers or a documents and request them for a personal loan. And Banks are used to provide you a soft loan.

Is there any way you can take like one class at a cheap college to postpone loan repayment?

I mean after you graduate college to avoid paying your loans so soon

While I sympatize with the feeling of being overwhelmed thinking about paying back student loans, you're only going to dig yourself in a deeper hole by taking a random class just to avoid paying. I'm not trying to lecture, I'm just in the same place you are right now.

Have you done any research into company that you got your loans from? I just graduated in May and am currently in the process of repaying mine, and I know that now that I was givien quite a bit of information about different payment plans (larger amount over a shorter period or smaller amounts over a longer period) and how to defer payment if I needed to.

You don't say who your loans are with, but here's a link to sallie mae's information about postponing payment: http://www.salliemae.com/after_graduati ... stpone.htm. Maybe your company has something similar and it's usually as simple as checking their website or calling their customer service number.
