Do you have information on brain surgery as treatment for binge eating disorder?

I have heard that there is a brain surgery that can be done on opiate users that eliminates their cravings. So is there a brain surgery that can be used to turn off carbohydrate/sugar cravings? Medications and gastric bypass don't work for everyone.

Nopes. please stop going on that direction and go the old route - 2 step, buddies, etc. brain surgery is reserved for people with LESIONS. as to opiate users - what you heard is speculative and experimental and is NOT offered.
stay away from my knife.

I've successfully resolved a number of client eating disorder problems with hypnotherapy and EFT.
I appreciate many would not consider hypnotherapy or EFT as first options but would suggest these are considered. As these people have been profesionally trained in neurotic disorders.

I suspect that self-esteem is a factor here - but as a first step you'll need to visit your GP and get yourself referred to the mental health unit of your PCT. Hopefully your GP will have a resident psychologist that also may help.

But as I said before - don't disregard Hypnotherapy.

Good luck.

Hi there,

I would recommend working with an ED therapist to help you to understand WHY you binge eat, and to reduce/eliminate the behaviors. (To find a therapist who specializes in eating issues, click here:)

In the meantime, I would highly recommend that you pick up a copy of, and read the book: Overcoming Overeating by Jane Hirschmann and Carol Munter. Many people who struggle as you do have gotten a lot of support and relief from this book. http://www.amazon.com/Overcoming-Overea ... 076&sr=1-1

The key to healing is to work with a supportive therapist who can help you to understand WHY you eat when not physically hungry. Good luck! You can do this, and should not have to suffer anymore.
