Are there any fashion design classes for teenagers in New York City?

I really want to learn how to make my own clothing- learn how to design and make them.
Do you know of any fashion design classes for teens in New York City or in the surrounding area (within 15 min.)?
Thank you so much if you can help me.

New postby Darlene » 29 Oct 2012, 08:18

I'm a teen in south Jersey who desperately wants to enroll in a fashion design class. Does anyone know of one remotely near me?
Do you know a link for the FIT classes?

It would help if I knew what the project was??? cover?? book??

I would get a very old machine and take it apart. Take loads of black and white pictures, different sizes and arrange them on the cover, behind some of the actual springs, needles and colourful thread used from the machine (makes sure these are small ). piece it all together until it looks modern and funky.

Send a couple of designers in your area a portfolio. Ask them to let you do some work for a low fee. Even if it is for a very low rate.

What are some fashion design opportunities and classes a teen could participate in?

The title explains the question, but I mean local for me. I don't mean colleges, people. I mean like summer classes type thing. Like sewing your fashion designs you precariously drew.etc. Any ideas? PLEASE help me! I just need SOME feedback, PLEASE! And I'm talking maybe in the NC Charlotte area. Please give me websites and information or links, or your previous thoughts and opinions on this place. I REALLY need this! Thanks so much if you help me out here! :)

I think http://www.designerbloc.com/ might interest you. It's a community for aspiring fashion designers to display their designs, get community feedback, and meet other designers. You could show your designs there and get some help with your fashion career. Lots of caring and supportive people there.
