Rubber Wrist Bands

What's With The Different Colored Rubber Wrist Bands...

New postby Kecia » 23 Oct 2012, 15:27

What's with the different colored rubber wrist bands I'm seeing?

I am seeing people all over Dallas wearing different colored rubber wrist bands. They are basically just 1/2 to 3/4 inch wide rubber bands and come in all different colors. I have even seen them on sales racks in stores.
I'm an old guy and pretty much out of the "fashion and cool" loop.
Do these wrist bands have any particular meaning or function?

Thanks!

This trend started with Lance Armstrongs yellow "LiveStrong" bracelets. They were sold to raise money for charity. By purchasing one of these yellow bracelets you supported the fight against cancer. Since these bracelets other ones have come out supporting different dissorders and causes, each represented by a different color. The longer these have been out, the more there are. Now they are getting a little out of control and are just brightly colored with words like "Cutie" on them. I hope that answered your question!

You can purchase them in many different places...just do a Google search for awareness bracelets. They are available for many different causes.

Where can I buy solid colored rubber wrist bands?

New postby Danica » 23 Oct 2012, 15:27

I'm looking for solid colored rubber (silicon, I think) wristbands with either nothing on them (just the color. no text or design) or with any text printed on the wrist band (printed on to where it will fade away/rub off eventually) - Not like the Livestrong bands that have the text indented in the band. just simple cheap ones that have stuff printed on them.

I was wondering where I can find these in Dallas Texas, or somewhere around that area.

They have tons of websites where you can order custom made bracelets. just type "custom rubber bracelets" on google and you're set.

It is to stop bad habits from language to bad thoughts or indulgence..things like that..You punished yourself with the snap of the band...and it was a positive reinforcement you didn't do bad things so you wouldn't feel pain

Just call Finishline, Footlocker, or Champs and I'm sure that they'll have your answer. I wouldn't know because I've never ordered any of them.

Is snapping rubber bands on my wrist a form of cutting of self mutilation?

I asked a question last week about how to magage stress and pain and one person told me to put a rubber band on and snap it. I have been doing this for a week now. Is this a good idea or a very bad one? Thanks for any help.

I wouldnt think it was a form of cutting, just a form of pain. Damn, that has got to hurt!A person told you to do this and you did?????Why???That is no way to handle stress or pain. It just adds it if you ask me. I would like to meet up with the person that told you or sorry, suggested you do this. How old are you sweetie???Go to a friend or mom or somebody you trust. You can e-mail me if you need somebody, anytime, klinedarlene@yahoo.com I will be praying for you.

I'm sorry!! I don't think that you can fix that kind! Is there ant possible way that you can get a new one?

Here are a few ideas, I don't know if they'll work or not but it's worth a shot!!

-string: try to wrap the string around the broken part to hold it together.

-tape: use a LITTLE piece of duct or masking tape to tape the broken part together.

-glue: use super glue to glue it together.

-string take 2: poke a hole in the ends that are broken and put string through them and tie the strings together in a bow or knot.

Sorry, I don't know how good either of these will look but that is all I can come up with!!

Good luck!!
