New postby Elenore » 25 Oct 2012, 22:53

I want to recycle used ink ribbons that were used on old dot matrix printers. Where can I send them?

To be specific, these ink ribbons were used on Epson LQ-590 printers and now I have stack of used ribbons. Selling them or trading them would be great but I mostly just want to get rid of them. They're not authentic Epson ribbons. I include this because I know that Epson has a recycling program but they only take Epson products for recycling. Anybody got any clues?

If I had those ribbons I'd call an office supply store like Staples, Office Depot, Office Max, etc. Some of them are helping with recycling programs now. It's a shot in the dark, but worth a try.

Also, does your City or County sponsor any kind of recycling programs? May be worth a call there.

Hope you find someplace that will take them.

Can I still purchase typewriter ink ribbons for a really old Royal typewriter?

I found an old Royal portable typewriter (sorry I couldn't find the year.the pictures in the book screamed the 40s or 50s.) at a thrift store for $25 and I put a hold on it; thinking it over. I'd like to actually USE it, as opposed to just having it as a prop.
My only concern is being able to find ink ribbons for it. Does anyone have any information on this? Links please. And thanks so much

Office Depot, Office Max, Staples, that sort of store.

Make sure to get exact name and model from the typewriter.

Try doing a Google search on "typewriter ribbon". I did and found LOTS of sites that sell ribbons and a few that'll even repair old typewriters. But you might want to try this guy first:

How do I oil an antique typewriter's keys and change its ink ribbon?

Some of the keys get stuck half-way to the paper. It's a Remington Remette typewriter.

Spray some wd40 onto the keys. hopefully none of the arms are bent. you will probably have trouble finding parts for this typewriter. I just gave one away a few months ago.

Part of Resident Evil is to save as few times as possible. In fact, in the ones where you get a grade (the remake doesn't grade you) saving actually penalizes you!

Unfortunately, if you've saved 21 times then you've used 7 ink ribbons already... While I can't say for sure, your chances of finding another one anytime soon is slim. But I'll try to name a couple you may have missed.

1. In the desk in the room on the first floor that contains the broken shotgun. (Through the balcony of the dining room, then through the furthest door, the one with the stairs, go down the stairs and the room I'm referring to is in that hallway.)

2. In the main hall there is a room on the right side that's locked by the helmet key. At the far back of the room and to the left is a small desk that contains one.
