Color Toners

Why has my color laser printer started making a horizontal..

Why has my color laser printer started making a horizontal bars of heavier toner concentration across the page

It's a HP 1500L, and I've had it for years.

Both the printer drum and toner cartridges were replaced a (low volume) month ago, and should not be even close to empty.

I've taken out all he toner cartridges and shook them a bit, to redistribute the toner, but this didn't make any difference.

Power off Printer and remove toner, look inside for a Black/Grey spongy roller which the toner sat on clean this.

What color of toner would I need?

New postby Lorrie » 29 Oct 2012, 09:13

I recently bleached my hair it still has a lot of orangy tones in it, and I want to take that out so that i can dye it a light brown color.

What toner is good for that? Brand etc. Thanks a lot

Go for light beige ash brown which should get rid of the orange.

If you mean Samsung ML-2010 laser printer, then no, it's only black-and-white.

New postby Rolanda » 29 Oct 2012, 09:13

I have medium brown hair and im going to dye my hair a dark blonde today. I was wondering what color toner I should use because I know that my hair might turn a little orange.
i think im going to go to a salon instead. about how much does it cost?

This is very difficult to do yourself, and i definetly dont suggest or recommend you doing this yourself.

however, i dont want anybody to walk around with messed up hair, so i will give you any help i can.

hoping it lifts evenly (and doesn't get some light spots and some dark spots), if its a real orange orange color, you need an ash toner. if its yellow orange, mix ash and platinum. if its yellow, just use platinum. depending on exactly how orange or yellow it is will determine if you need to mix in a natural or neutral toner as well. i can't tell you this because i dont know your hair, i dont know what you've done to it in the passed, if anything, and i dont know what color it will turn.

you should REALLY go to a professional for something like this.

***UPDATE***
i can't say how much it will cost. all salons are different, and charge different prices. it also depends on your area...if your in the city, it'll also be more expensive. at my salon, i charge anywhere between $80 and $150 for a full head of bleach and toner (its called a double process color), and that does include a haircut (you'll probably need it afterwards). i would call some GOOD salons around your area and get quoted, but they'll probably also give you a range of prices. you never know how much work its going to be, so you cant give an exact number.

you're hair will come out MUCH better at a salon. if you end up doing it yourself, you'll probably have to go to a salon anyway to get it fixed.

I think this depends on what kind of laser printer you have. If you have the laser printer that's very popular in the market, in other words, lot of people using it, and there are a lot of refills like other people have used without problem, then just go ahead and use the refills. If it's pretty much proprietary, I will suggest you go with manufacturer made toner.

I need a color laser printer with great quality that I can..

I need a color laser printer with great quality that I can refill the toner with a kit?

Any suggestions. This printer wil be for labels, greeting cards, door hangers, kind of need a duplex also. From experience what would you suggest. Or where can I go to see for myself. I know of many people that refill their own toner for dirt cheap. I do that with my inkjet. But I don't like the colros bleeding with an inkjet.

Well your gonna have to fork over a nice penny for something like that. Also, refilled toner isn't always a good thing. Sometimes you can get bad toner that is not meant for your make or model and you can really damage your printer. You get what you pay for. Dirt cheap refills?, don't complain to the guy thats gotta fix your printer when he doesn't charge you a dirt cheap price.

I am not a professional but have in our home the privilege of owning 5 HP Laser Jet printers, and FYI only one is a HP Color Laser Jet 4550. All HP Color Laserjets have 4 toner cartridges, so if I were in your shoes - I would open the printer and inspect each cartridge carefully, shaking & doing your best to evenly distribute the toner, then wiping/vaccuuming any toner dust... Then on the Yellow Toner I would simply replace it and when finished, rebooting your PC and hopefully when you test and try printing from your HP Color Laser and hopefully it would correct itself.

If that did not work, then next I would visit the HP website bec in the past their on-line forums have helped me during troubleshooting.

Hope the Above Info Helps and Best of Luck!
