That book is no good! I should know. That book was given to me when I attended pharmacy technician school at the community college where it was given. It was very vague and not helpful to me at all. The book that really is the most accurate and also helpful with the PTCB test is:

Concise Review For The Ptcb Exam
by Christopher Ardoin, Brian Tuschl

I bought mine at Barnes & Noble. Why is a good book? The wording on their practice test is the same as the exam. Also, the pharmaceutical math problems are very thorough and the questions are similar to the exam.

Pharmacy technician is just a fancy term for helper. They're pretty much one level above janitor. Heck, you don't even need to go to college to become a pharmacy tech, you can go straight to the pharmacy and ask for a job there. If you want to up your chances of getting a pharm tech job, you could volunteer at the hospital for free, then when you apply you pretty much qualify to become a pharm tech. It depends on how picky the pharmacy is, but it pretty much nothing more than a helper job. That is why it pays as good as flipping burgers.

Consider a career as a pharmacist. they make so much more than a tech. there should be a tech program at your local JC. You might want to call and ask.

You may be able to get a job in a chain pharmacy like Walgreens, Walmart ect... Many will hire you, provide you with materials you need to study for the certification exam. They usually will reimburse the cost of the test if you pass. You can also study on your own and just sign up to take the exam. You can sign up for the exam at www.ptcb.org. Mosby makes a good study guide. Also check at your local community colleges, they will have courses to take to help you pass the certification exam, also they may prepare you to work in hospital pharmacies (you have to be IVcertified) which you can make more money.

Never heard of the school. But, to become a Pharm Tech you need to have a good base education. I would suggest checking with a local community college to see if they have a Pharm Tech program. Most states have educational programs where you can practice as a Tech while going to school to get your certificate.

Most of all when dealing with Career Schools, make sure they are accredited or endorsed by the PTCB. They are the only ones that really matter in the Pharm Tech business, so if the school is not recognized by the PTCB it may not fulfill the necessary educational requirements to prepare you for your PTCB exam.

Well in California, in the school i am in, all i needed was to have a high school diploma and to pass an entry exam for the pharm tech program and that was it, oh well then later on in the program you have to get your fingerprints taken and take a T.B. test and stuff but yea, just ask the school that you are looking into, what are the requirements to getting in.
