What state universities offer online degrees?

New postby Rosann » 29 Oct 2012, 13:00

I wanted to do the University of Phoenix(the campus), but I saw a lot of complaints about them. They are not a lot of choices I can choose from where I live, so online degrees is best for me.

Do any of the top Universities offer online degrees?

New postby Sophia » 29 Oct 2012, 13:00

I live in Washington State, and have 2 young children and a hubby. Moving to a top University wouldn't be practical. With my gpa I could get into any University I wanted. Are there any online programs offered at these top Universities? I'm really hoping for Psychology.

I have my AA transfer degree.

You would be better off taking class at the university nearest you, not only do most top university not offer the classes most of them wont accept them as credit for anything.

1. Northeastern University **** (Top Choice!)
2. Columbia College (MO)
3. University of Colorado - Denver
4. University of Massachusetts - Boston
5. Central Michigan University

Now if you wanted to deviate to Social Science or Psychology there are many more Universities offering online programs in these majors. The prices vary between institutions, I believe in the list above Columbia College would be the best price for the quality school, it is ranked in the top 100 of America's best colleges. Northeastern University would be the best overall, though it is more expensive. The requirements for these schools is usually a High School diploma, and a GPA over 3.0, though any extra perks you may be able to present to them will most definitely help.

Well since its on-line where its located is irrelevant. My favourite is Regis:
http://www.transfertoregis.org/index.html

The reason is they let you do 90 credits at an in state CC (and many offer them on-line nowadays) and the last year at Regis. They have an agreement with Northwest Arkansas
Community college so you are guaranteed of getting in. But it wouldn't be a problem anyway. If you do the sums this will usually work out cheaper than any other option I have seen. And Regis have these nifty combined bachelors/Masters that only take an extra year. These days every Tom, Dick and Harry has a bachelors, you really need a Masters to snag the better jobs.

Thanks
Bill

What reputable colleges/universities offer online undergraduate degrees?

I am currently working full-time and would like to earn my undergraduate degree online from a reputable institution. My goal is to eventually take a break from work and relocate in order to get my master's/doctorate from an Ivy League/Top 10 school. Would it be feasible for me to get into one of these schools with an online degree? Can anyone recommend some good schools that offer online degrees that would look good when I apply for graduate school?

These days, many quite reputable private and state colleges offer courses and even degrees online. They call it "distance education."

At the link below, you will find distance education programs offered through absolutely respectable and fully accredited universities like the University of Maryland, Penn State University, Indiana University, Iowa State University, New York University, University of California at Davis, and even Columbia University, Stanford University, and Cornell University.

However, I would still advise you to be careful. Many graduate programs are still extremely skeptical of online education. Contact the particular graduate programs in which you are interested, and make sure they would look kindly upon coursework taken online.

Best wishes to you.

What is the cheapest and the best online university offering bachelor degrees in psychology?

I just finished with my Associate of Arts and looking to move on. I live in Dayton, Ohio and I prefer something online so that I am able to work full time and be at home with my son in the evenings.

Usually, cheapest and best don't work in the same sentence. Especially not when we're talking about schools.

Take a look at the Ohio University Bachelor of Specialized Studies http://www.ouorc.ohio.edu/menu/rhp/bd/s ... tudies.htm
and see if that meets your needs.

Peru State College http://www.peru.edu/online/index.htm#.htm
has a solid reputation and their fees are very reasonable. They offer a BS in Psych online.

American Military University (you don't have to be military) http://www.amu.edu is well under $300 a semester hour and they offer a bachelor's in psychology.

UMass http://www.umassonline.net/degrees/NewP ... egree.html
has a BA in Psychology online and they have a "best" reputation but they aren't "cheap".

Whatever you select - make sure the school has a solid reputation and that it is regionally accredited.
