I have a Infocus SP 4806 Projector. Whats the difference inbetween the Lamp and the Bulb?

My projector has about 1500 hours on it. What should I replace the lamp or the bulb? Do they come together? Do I have to buy them seperate. As you can tell I don't know a lot about projectors. Which of these usually get replaced the lamp or bulb?

The bulb is in the lamp you cant buy one or the other you buy the whole as the lamp assembly since the lamp is sealed with the bulb inside. and it runs between $300 - $400

Green display on HD channels on InFocus SP5000 projector...

Green display on HD channels on InFocus SP5000 projector using component cables?

I'm using a Motorola HD receiver (Adelphia Cable) with component cables to my InFocus SP5000 projector. All analog and digital channels look good. All HD channels have a green tint, have a little "shake" to them, and the projector is constantly trying to identify the source. When you look at the source info, it shows VGA resolution and "sync to green". I'm getting a DVI-M1 adapter, but until then I have to use component cables. Does anyone know what's going on here and how to fix it?

Perhaps the problems is as simple as replacing (or securing) the GREEN cable. Or if the cables come as a set (that cannot be seperated), then get a new set. At least that would be the least expensive way to troubleshoot the problem.

It's always good to double-check your connections first. Most problems have been solved (with electronics performance) this way.

You should not use s-video if possible. That projector has a VGA input and your computer probably has a VGA output. That is the way to do it for the best picture. The connectors look like this:

Does anyone know about troubleshooting InFocus DLP projectors?

I have an InFocus DLP projector that I use in my home for cable/tv/dvd's etc.it's mounted on my wall.it's silver, about 10 in. x 10 in.I've had little to no trouble with it and owned it since 2005.today it stated to make a whirring sound when turned on.but the start up screen still comes up and everything else works fine.anyone got any ideas.is it the motor? Any common problems?

If it is a high pitch sound, then the color wheel needs to be replaced. While this sounds cheap, the problem is that some InFocus projector color wheels came with the engine and was not sold separately. Engines cost $1000-$2000. The color wheel itself costs under $100.

If it is a more low pitch sound, then the fan could be going bad. This should only cost at most $10.

2005...that means your warranty just expired. InFocus projectors range between 1-2 warranties. You can spend a few hundred dollars to repair the unit or you can invest in another projector. The part itself is cheap, but typically it costs $100 for labor. The fan costs $5. The color wheel may cost around $50.

Go to http://www.infocus.com/support and plug in your zip code to find the nearest service center. Parts are not sold to consumers, so you cannot repair it yourself.

Should I upgrade to Blu-ray with an Infocus X2 SVGA projector?

I have an Infocus X2 SVGA projector that is hooked up to a sony 5-disc upconvert dvd player through HDMI. I was wondering if I purchased a blu-ray player, would I notice any difference in picture quality even though the projector is SVGA? The projector is HDTV compatible.

The catch is that SVGA is 4:3 aspect. So in order for your projector to upscale the correct width of 16:9, you will loose even more vertical resolution. So, you MAY notice a slight increase in visual quality due to the superior source; but it will probably be negligible.
That said, since Blue-Ray has won the format war, you can safely upgrade that component now and start saving for your HD projector ;).
Good Luck!

That's a lamp for a fairly old projector ... if you mean an LP220 (See 1st link). Given the 500 hr lifetime and price of (probably) $350+ and relatively poor performance of the projector (e.g. 200:1 contrast ratio) I'd suggest considering replacing the projector. For not much more than the price of a new lamp you could get a new projector with much better performance.

However, if you want to find a lamp the 2nd link is to several InFocus lamp dealers .... give one a call if they don't specifically list it ... or do a google search for the actual lamp model number (The latter is how I found a great deal on a replacement lamp for my Canon projector).

Hope that helps.

Composite (yellow cable) will give you the lowest quality image. The Wii is only 480 resolution, but use the red/blue/green component ports (See link for info and pictures) for the best picture possible and feed audio to a suitable sound system (not the projector).

Unfortunately, there is no readily available IR "universal" code that operates Infocus remote controllers. You will have to purchase a replacement remote which costs around $65 for the IN76 from the infocus.com website.

Good luck!
