Do you consider illegal immigration beneficial to the economy of the State of California?

A recent statewide poll incidated that an increasing number of Califorians' don't consider illegal immigration as a negative trend. The Field Poll showed that 47 percent of state residents see illegal immigration as beneficial to the state's economy. That number is a signifacant increase from a 1982 study, when just 19 percent saw it as favorable.

There is no question that as a whole it is beneficial to the economy of California (and the whole U.S.) Immigrants, including esp. illegal immigrants are among the most productive workers in the U.S., and whole industries such as agriculture rely on illegal immigrants as a work force.

Now, while beneficial to the economy as a whole, illegal immigration does expand the labor market, thus helpful manufactures, agribusiness, etc., and consumers but doing so to the detriment of US labor (organized and otherwise.) Wages are depressed by the influx of workers.

What career path do you want to follow?
Many technical books may be written in German first, adn only translated to English after a year or so. You could be ahead of other people in your field just because you can keep abrest of advanced techniques before the rest of the English speaking world knew it even existed.

Even if you want to break into filming, or behind the camera work, many location shots in Germany or Austria may need a trusted person to be on site.

A second (or third) language is best at times you least expect.

Good luck

Learning any language can be beneficial no matter where you live. Being bi-lingual looks good on a resume as well.
