Group Medical Insurance

What Is A Relatively Inexpensive Individual (not Group)...

New postby Alethia » 29 Oct 2012, 15:38

What is a relatively inexpensive individual (not group) medical insurance policy?

A member of my family will have to purchase his own coverage beginning next year. He is not wealthy, and the policies he has learned about are very expensive. Do you know of a company that provides adequate comprehensive health insurance for a person of modest means? Tell me about it. Thanks.

How about you are getting quotes from the agents around your town. One time entry will bring the several quotes for him. Check the following site;

http://www.insureme.com/landing.aspx?Re ... ype=health

The agencies will compete for his attention with their best quote for him. He just enters his basic information thru the site in above, and then the real agent will contact him via phone or e-mail within a few hours or a day. He just chooses the best quote for himself among them. It is free. No obligation.

I saved my premium about 40% from this site. He may take same advantage that I ve got. Good luck!

If you have one through work ,try and keep it. Group insurance at that age is very expensive. Try AARP in the US for advice.

Need a group for medical insurance?

New postby Alethia » 29 Oct 2012, 15:38

Employer offers very skimpy medical insurance. Individual (i.e., non-group) insurance is very expensive. I have heard that groups have been formed so that members will qualify for group rates. Please tell which groups these are, and what you know about them. Many thanks.

Group insurance, on average, is twice the cost of individual plans, not the other way around. It may seem as though group insurance cost less, but often the enrollee does not take into account the employers contribution to the total premium. Group insurance is guaranteed issue in most cases, meaning they can't exclude an applicant, no matter their condition. Someone has to pay for this. There are many others reasons why group is more expensive, such as maternity, COBRA, Portability, etc., and all the other state and federal mandates.
Individual plans may exclude certain conditions, or refuse coverage. The upside is that if you are generally healthy, they are your best bet, especially with the higher deductibles. You can pick the plan best for you, and not what the group is offered.

Obviously the answers you give to these questions will need to be very personalised, but here's some pointers:
When they ask for your strengths and weaknesses, you should focus on your strengths and give some specific examples of how you have used them in previous jobs.

When they ask for your weaknesses, you should choose one or two fairly minor weaknesses which won't have a major impact on your ability to do the job. If possible, you should also mention what you are doing to improve on your weaknesses - for example if you say that using spreadsheets is your weakness, you could say what you have been doing recently to improve this skill. Employers admire people who take personal development seriously.

As for the "what can you tell me about yourself" question, you should prepare a 2 minute mini-speech about your educational qualifications and your career to-date, highlighting any major achievements you have made.

At the end of the interview, ask them to tell you more about the day-to-day aspects of the job, and if you are still enthusiastic about the job, ensure you make it clear to them, for example by saying: "This sounds like the sort of job I would really enjoy doing, as I like... [mention here 1 or 2 things from the job description]."

If you search on Google for "common interview questions" you will find many sites with other useful tips.

It should be on your insurance card, but if you're not sure, call your human relations department. They should be able to help you.

Those who don't have it yet.
Those who have family and/or friends who don't have it yet.
Those who have it but think it should be a basic right for others.

Usually, health, life and short term disability is not free. The employer pays part of the premium and the employee gets the rest deducted from their paycheck. How much is deducted, is dependent upon what benefits the employee chooses. Usually, there are deductibles, co-pays and out of pocket fees associated with health insurance that she would be responsible for.

Short term disability is coverage that would pay her if she were not able to work due to illness or injury.

It is probably in the corner of your card or on the back. (And I don't think that all BCBS plans are removing the group number from the card. I work for a BCBS plan and I have never heard this before). I also can't imagine how it would not be on the card. Care providers need the group number to properly file a claim.

The length of the group number can vary and can contain numbers or letters depending on who your insurance company is. If you can not locate the group number, I would recommend calling the customer service number on the back of your card. They will know right where it is. :-)
