I reckon to create your site in PHP platform for which you can get free content management scripts, like phpnuke, phpbb etc. its user friendly and easy to use even if you are starter.

How does Vista get along with different Content Management Systems?

I edit content for several websites using different CMS e.g Ektron, Mambo etc. I am "upgrading" to Vista on my home laptop and as i sometimes work from home I want feedback on any issues with using these systems on Vista.

Its actually not that bad. The only advice that one can give with vista is to make sure the UAC (user account Control) is turned off and you shouldnt have any problems with your different programs. you should make sure that its turned off before you install the new programs.

Can anyone recommend software that will allow me to build an on-line database with easy content management?

I want to build a website with a database holding text and pictures. It will need to have query and sort functionality as well as 'easy to use' content management. I can do the front end of the site but it's the back end that I need help with.

Wordpress is excellent and compliant.
Mambo is now called Joomla, Joomla is VERY good.
Both have extension and mods that you can add for pictures and other things.

A good and cheap content management system, - with search functionalists?

Have a very little bugdet ($3,000), to make a food and recipes site. I want to buy a contant management system, that can search the site and allow users to make comments.

I will be doing the design and html and contant. But my programming experience is very lacking, so I am not sure of an open source system?

Please let me know what good content management systems are out there? -

Thank you.

I need a news/article content management programs compatible with Yahoo Web Hosting platforms; anyone?

I am looking for a content management application that has a Graphical User Interface that allows for for writing news articles, placing the articles into whatever categories I want, being able to order categories, be able to handle multiple authors, approve articles before publication to the live site, hide articles from viewers while in the edit process and be able to have the approved article "go live" on a future date.

I would be much obliged to anyone who can steer me to a Yahoo compatible product.

Thanks much to all!
I should add that I do not want to be hand coding any templates, or even need to remove and replace much, if any, HTML or PHP code. Rather, I want to use a GUI or wizard to effect changes.

Kyle is right. You don't need to know PHP or HTML to use Wordpress. Wordpress is best for blogs and has all the features you need.

Wordpress is cheifly a blogging system. For a full-fleged LMS, I recommend Drupal: http://drupal.org/.
