Do you know a lawyer who takes Personal Injury Cases in Illinois?
Had a culture done from an abscess and it turned out to be mrsa that I got from a hospital stay 8 days prior - but the hospital didn't notify me. According to their rules they have to tell me about this- to prevent the spread of this to my family and public. right now i am very sick and still have to have more operations - want to know if i can sue for not telling me and not following their own rules?" After all the invasive treatment of patients after touching infectious agents (and without cleaning one's hands or changing ones clothing) is most certainly an act." Given this reality, the failure to wash hands before treating hospital patients - a population whose susceptibility to infection is probably greater than that of the public at large - easily satisfies the statutory definition of criminal negligence. And because of the large number of exposed patients, the risk of death through staph infection is also "substantial and unjustifiable."
In the face of the available evidence, failing to perceive the risk is blatantly unreasonable - and a gross deviation from the standard of care. The risk should be known to anyone who has studied the germ theory of disease, which doctors and nurses presumably all have.
Rules like cleanness, notification, mental anguish,etc.?.

if I do not go anywhere - and this happen after the hospital stay -there is only one way I could have gotten this. The hospital. also the nurses didn't wash their hands - nor did they clean the room right. If you had gotten this you would be seeking damages too! I've been in bed for 3 weeks, can't touch my family - you would be outraged!

the vp of patients called me and I wanted to know why the hospital did;t notify me about the culture, she said it's policy to call back patients who tests come back positive. she will look into it. she also asked me several questions about my 2 day stay. Did all nurses wash hands in front of me before touching gloves (no) did they clean the room (no, they swifer it but never changed they used the same swifer for every room) did they clean the bathroom (no the toilet had a black ring) and even when I went to the ER (the day they did the culture) they seemed to already know something because they put me in a private room with it's own bathroom. I have never seen this. They even didn't make me wait, I was rushed back. (and this is when I went there for the abscess)
