Should the NHL abolish fighting? Has Don Sanderson's death altered your opinion?

Feel free to answer both questions.

No and no. The idea that fighting is good because the fans enjoy it is completely missing the point. The mere threat of a fight keeps many sticks lower, many more elbows down and gives guys who can read the players number second thoughts before hitting from behind. Interestingly many people never mention that with the rule mandating helmets that the dirty play has increased, guys get a false sense that the bucket makes it ok to deliver elbows or get sticks high. Eliminating fighting would only likely increase the current lack of respect some guys have now. No fear of repercussion only emboldens people. Take for instance the playground bully. He picks on kids knowing they have little choice but to take it,the worst he faces is a visit to the principles office. But what usually happens when one kid has enough? They fight back and the bully loses his advantage...fear. Now he isnt the playground threat he once was. Silly but the same adage applies on the ice.

As for Sandersons death...nobody wants to see those kind of things but it was nothing more than a tragic accident. No different than Earnhardt Sr. losing his life (no talk of abolishing 100+ speeds to protect racers), Coolbaugh dying on the basebal field from the line drive in the head (no talk of eliminating base coaches ever brought up),pitchers intentionally throwing at hitters will again eventually lead to another death on the baseball field (yes a MLB player died from a bean ball several years ago...cant recall the name) the laundry list of NFL players (including last week) where head shots or helmet on helmet hits often lead to near tragic results (McGahee is lucky he isnt paralized....many arent so lucky). The suggestion that eliminating helmets would solve helmet to helmet contact never is mentioned because the violence is somehow different in other sports. There is inherent risk in any sport where contact is part of the game, fighting isnt legal in the NHL any more than it is in any other sport (otherwise there wouldnt be penalties that are immediate and potentially costy to your team right then) but because the malice involved in fighting is more obvious than a well placed elbow in a basketball game, dirty hits in the NFL (what about guys holding a player up while others try to bend them in 2 or guys that chop players at the knee), a racecar driver "bumping" a guy into the wall because he is pissed about something. Fighting is no different than a 90+ mph fastball message at a players head (and far less dangerous overall) and unfortunately a tragic situation can happen on occasion.

How about throwing Ken Patera and Kurt Angle into the mix since they excelled in both amateur and pro wrestling.

I think your best bet would be to find somebody who can sew and have them make the costumes for you. I think the costume designers for Hocus Pocus did an amazing job...something like that you won't be able to find at a costume store. Plus, by making the outfits from scratch, you'll add your own personal style to it, not to mention a more comfortable fabric. The rest of the stuff like brooms and hats you can probably find almost anywhere come Halloween time.

Good luck! I hope it turns out well :)

I found a few costumes there but I am not 100% this is exactely what you need. However, a few were under the $30 mark so that could do it! I hope this helps anyway: http://www.costumzee.com/tag/hocus+witch/

That other quote is from the hanging scene near the beginning. The one from the graveyard is to raise Billy Butcherson Winifred's former lover.

Unfaithful lover long since dead
deep asleep in thy wormy bed
wiggle thy toes
open thine eyes
twist thy fingers
toward the sky
life is sweet
be not too shy
on thy feet
so sayeth I.

Cael Sanderson easily if you're limiting this to college careers. Just look at the records; the only person who comes close in that list is Gable, but he didn't go undefeated in college.
