New postby Katherina » 28 Nov 2009, 18:12

I had my custom lasik done friday and today my vision is still blurry. Of course It's alot better, but still blurry. For example, right now that I'm on the computer the letters are really blurry. I;m just wondering if maybe it takes longer with lasik? Any experience? i don't see my doctor for another two weeks.so just asking those who has had it?

Really, it is an individual thing and really has a lot to you with where you were and what ind of procedures you had done. It is not the same for everyone. You had better ask your doctor these things as they would be more apt to be able to answer it for you.

Really depends. i have seen them as cheap as 1000USD and as high as 5000USD.

I paid 4500USD becase the guy that did it Dr Silver at TLC eye care centers is one of the top guys in the field.

Remember they are your eyes, if there is one thing you should not try to save money on is a Lasik procedure.

What did you pay for your "Custom" LASIK , Where, when and why; and are you satisfied? Thanks!?

We are looking for actual LASIK patients to share what they paid, since the web is choked with industry-provided propaganda to suppress comparative shopping.

If you've had LASIK, please contribute some helpful info. If you haven't had LASIK, or are considering LASIK; ask a friend who has, and please contribute.

If you just want to say prices may vary depending on the particular patient, the services provided, the equipment being used, the experience of the provider, etc. yes, we are aware of that, so don't bother wasting everybody's time. we are looking for prices actual patients have paid, what services they got and if they are satisfied. or not.

Thank You!

I just had Custom LASIK on January 2nd, in Omaha, Nebraska. Up to that point, I had been wearing Night & Day contacts (30 day wear, don't remove daily). Although my vision wasn't terrible (20/200) it seemed to be deteriorating. In addition, the contacts became increasingly uncomfortable to wear.

I ended up doing it because although my vision with contacts was decent, the discomfort was getting to me. In addition, I like to golf, and it seemed that I would have a really tough time on windy days.

The cost for "Custom" LASIK at the highly recommended location here was $4200. I believe it was $3600 for LASIK (all laser, no blade), and $300 per eye for custom. I received a 10% discount because of my employer, so my net cost was just under $3800.

I have to admit, I felt some considerable pain in my right eye during the surgery. I didn't anticipate that, almost every person I'd spoken with only described some "pressure", but this was actual pain. Outside of that, the operation it self was relatively stress-free. I'm a horrible person when it comes to my eyes, and if I could get through it, I think most people wouldn't have a problem with it. Just FYI though, if they offer you a choice of 5mg or 10mg of Valium, TAKE THE 10.

All said, my eyes are sore and dry but my vision is getting better daily. Having to use eye drops all the time hasn't been the nuisance I thought it would be. I see considerable halos around every bright light right now, but I'm told that within a month, the blurriness and halo effect will pretty much disappear.

I'm glad I did it now, but I'm very anxious to see the end results. Hope that info helps.

EDIT: One more note - I had no conditions with my eyes, good cornea, etc etc etc. Just plain old custom lasik.

Regarding LASIK surgery, is Custom Wavefront Lasik worth $800 more than Flying Spot Technology?

If someone could provide an educated opinion on the topic I'd appreciate it. My LASIK surgeon recommended either the Bausch & Lomb 217Z (flying spot) or the Bausch & Lomb Zyoptix (custom wavefront). When I search for articles on the web, all I get are articles promoting one or the other, but I cant find a comparison. It seems like the Zypotix comes higher recommended but is it worth an extra $800? Or is the improvement between custom wavefront over flying spot worth it?

It totally depends on your Rx and pupil size.

Rx over say -4.50 and/or large pupil size: need the expensive one

Rx under about -4.00 *AND* small or average pupil size: cheaper one is likely fine

LASIK eye surgery is a medical procedure that can correct your vision by altering the physical properties of your eye. Unlike traditional surgical procedures that depend upon the skills and steadiness of the surgeon's hand, advanced LASIK eye surgery is computer controlled. The cornea of the eye is responsible for projecting light onto the retina in order to produce an image. When the cornea is not shaped properly, distortion of the image will occur. This is called a refractive error. LASIK eye surgery can correct refractive errors.

CUSTOM VUE LASIK

Basically the same as LASIK, except that the laser is computer guided, rather than being manipulated directly by the surgeon. During an exam, your eye contour is mapped by a sophisticated computer controlled system. The data gathered is then used to program the laser used during the actual LASIK procedure. Reports indicate the this method is 25% more accurate than previous LASIK systems.

In the vast majority of cases, recovery from LASIK eye surgery is quick and uneventful. However, as with most all medical procedures, there are certain risks, but if you take the recommended precautions, you'll have little to worry about.

Complications during recovery from LASIK eye surgery are rare, but they do occur. If you notice anything questionable during your recovery period, be sure to consult with your doctor immediately.
