Sorry but I don't know any eye surgeons in India. I would recommend you contact the licensing board of ocular surgeons in India and ask for a list of qualified surgeons. Then go in to two or three and 1) look at their facility 2) interview the doctor as to the number of surgeries he performs and credentialing 3) get a feel for how confident you feel with the surgeon. Hope this helped.

Who is the best Eye surgeon in the world to help my little nephew?

Hi all,
my nephew, 4 years old, had an accident and the detachment of the retina (retinal detachment). Here in Italy doctors say that his eye is in bad conditions and they are that it's very difficult that he will be able to see again from his eye.
Even if Italian doctors are very good my brother in law would like to contact the best eye surgeon in the world, if it exists,or the best hospital specialized in this kind of operations before accepting his little son has lost his eye.
Who would you recommend to contact?
Thanks in advance for you asnwers.

Contact Dr. McDugal in Clarksville, Arkansas, USA. He's one of the best in the country. He's an optical surgeon and has a wonderful reputation for success in such cases.

What should I take into consideration when looking for a lasik eye surgeon?

If I want lasik surgery, how do I find the most reputable DR? Do insurance companies cover any of it? I'm trying to sort all this out, I've been considering it. I don't want to pay too much, but I don't want to pay to little at the expense of my eyes. What should I be looking for?

Depending where you live a good surgeon costs about $3,000 and up depending on what your prescription is. I would ask how long they have been doing Laisk and how many procedures they have done, and how many they do weekly or monthly. Moist insurances do not cover lasik, they might pay a couple hundred dollars. The best way to find out if a surgeon is good at lasik is by word of mouth. A nationwide clinic like TLC is a good bet. I know they hire well qualified surgeons and do tons of lasik weekly.

I am not familiar with NC, as I live in CA. But, I had Lasik over a year ago.

My advice would be to talk to everyone....talk to your family, friends and co-workers. Then ask your family, friends and co-workers to talk to their family, friends and co-workers....you get the idea. I found my surgeon by word of mouth. I asked everyone I know if they had Lasiks (or knew anyone who had Lasiks), and what doctor they went to. Almost everyone I talked to in my area went to the surgeon I ended up going to, and everyone was perfectly satisfied. I went into the procedure very confident! Good luck to you!

It's a long, long road to do almost anything in the medical field. In the United States you have to go to 4 years of undergraduate school. Then another 4 years of medical school. Then it's usually a year as an intern. They 3-5 years training in a residency program before you are a full fledged surgeon. So that's about 11-13 years, give for take depending on if you graduate early/late, etc. Good luck!

Don't ask the surgeons. As you would expect every surgeon thinks they are the best surgeon out there. Go to the doctors that refer to the surgeons. They will know who is the best. So ask around and find out which optometrist has the best reputation in town and take your son to see him or her. Then depend upon their experience to direct you to the best surgeon. Hope this helped.

I'm not sure I'd want a paranoid eye surgeon. You might want to get help for the paranoia first.

If you just go to the university that youre thinking about attendings website, you can find the classes you should take there. But they usually say take 2 years of the same foreign language, 3 years of math, 3 years of science, 2 or 3 years of social science(psychology, sociology, econ..etc..), and 3 years of english
