It depends on the doctor and the procedure. Just know that you get what you pay for - I've seen ads around that boast that the surgery is $99/eye. Yikes! What are those folks using? A rusty box cutter??!!
Any-who. A reputable place will cost at LEAST $1,200 per eye.
My surgery was $3,500. That included the follow-up visits (for one year), the medicine, the tests and measureing.
Just do your research and you should be fine...ask your current eye doctor for a recommendation. Many times, they have friends who do the surgery and trust them infinately.
Good luck!

How much does laser eye surgery cost and how risky is it?

New postby Milagros » 25 Oct 2012, 18:11

I've been thinking about getting my vision corrected with laser. Does anyone know about how much it would cost and how risky it would be? (I currently have no medical conditions with my eyes except that I can't see anything beyond a foot of me)

Laser eye surgery is very safe nowadays. My cousin got her dental implants and lasik surgery in India by a company called Forerunners Healthcare. The Price for dental and lasik surgery is very less in India. She paid 25% of the price she was quoted in America.

Forerunners Healthcare is very famous in India They arrange Dental surgery, jaw surgery, lasik eye surgery, Dental Implants etc for foreign patients in India. I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and magazines- about their patient stories.
They arrange financing for USA, Canadian, UK and other international patients who plan to have surgery abroad for low cost, as dental and eye surgery is not covered by insurance. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. There are huge cost savings. As a doctor I personally believe that surgery can be easily handled in India, as the quality of healthcare available In India is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.

Hope this helps.

How much does corrective laser eye surgery cost?

New postby Allison » 25 Oct 2012, 18:11

I'm seeking to get that since I wear glasses. I hate glasses so I use to wear contacts for about a year or so but then they got lost or dried up. I don't quite remember so now I'm seeking to get corrective laser eye surgery.

I'm gonna see if I can get it with my insurance but I'd also like to know how much it costs. Does anyone know ? Of an estimate or exact cost ? Thanks !

With LASIK surgery you will generally get what you pay for: the more experienced surgeons with the more advanced technology will charge more for LASIK. Here in Southern California you could probably find someone good who would charge in the range of $2,500-3,800 per eye.

Probably the most important decision someone who is considering LASIK must make is what surgeon to choose. Although I do not perform LASIK, I have created a document for my cataract patients to help them in choosing a surgeon. The article can be viewed by clicking this link:

The advice in this document can be applied to choosing any surgeon in any specialty, not just cataract surgeons.

Sincerely,

Roughly how much would laser eye surgery cost from a reliable hospital? Any age restrictions and risks?

The majority of specialists charge $2500 per eye, plus approximately $170 - $200 for consultation. This usually covers follow up and visual testing up to four weeks after surgery.

The price varies depending on what part of the country you are in. There are many dos and don'ts after surgery. Check with your local Ophthalmologist to get a complete list.

What is the cheapest laser eye surgery can cost, including service in other countries?

I have astigmatism but I find contacts and glasses a frustrating money sink. My vision is about 20/160, but I never wear corrective lenses. I am looking forward to laser surgery, but as a college student I have less than $2000 to work with. I understand surgery can be up to $5000 in the USA, but I've heard of prices as low as $1400 abroad. Does anyone have any cheap success stories?
