Laser Eye Surgery In

New postby Chere » 26 Oct 2012, 14:46

I know the process of LASIK fairly well as I saw it done twice and had it done personally. A flap of your cornea (the lens of your eye) is cut and peeled back then a laser is used to burn microscopic bits of the underlying material into a shape that allows light to focus properly, then the flap is laid back down. You are awake for the entire procedure as they only provide drops to numb the eyes. It is completely painless even afterward with only a severe sensitivity to light as the main discomfort.

Laser eye surgery in thailand?

New postby Shala » 26 Oct 2012, 14:46

I want to get my vision corrected but can't afford the expensive costs in the UK. In thailand the costs are half the price. Is it safe though? Or is there some way I can get it done on the national health?

You can not have it through National Health.
Laser eye surgery involves changing the shape of the cornea by burning it with laser and making it thin. The process is irreversible. It is wonderful if all goes well but it is a disaster if something goes wrong. Think carefully before proceeding.

Meeting the eye specialist

This information is then passed on to an eye specialist who will conduct a complete eye exam. Subsequently, the eye specialist will be able to determine your candidacy. He or she will determine the best treatment for you and will further explain the recommended vision correction procedure.

Whether you have it done depends on what you wish to accomplish. I suspect that having a less nearsighted right eye would be easier to live with. It sounds like your left eye had a little shift since the surgery eight years ago. You would be far less dependent on wearing corrective lenses if the right eye were only reduced to the same -2.00 as your left eye is now. They both would be perfect for reading books, newspapers and other print material.

Talk it over with your surgeon.

So far it has been very difficult to find hard factual results because so many people have been reacting differently. The majority of patients have found the procedure to be extremely beneficial to their eyesight. Others found serious side-effects not to outweigh the gain of better vision. It's really been different for each and every patient.

There is a good San Diego Lasik website. It has lots of info and some very informative Lasik articles. See the links below:

Laser eye surgery is very safe nowadays. My cousin got her dental implants and lasik surgery in India by a company called Forerunners Healthcare. The Price for dental and lasik surgery is very less in India. She paid 25% of the price she was quoted in America.

Forerunners Healthcare is very famous in India They arrange Dental surgery, jaw surgery, lasik eye surgery, Dental Implants etc for foreign patients in India. I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and magazines- about their patient stories.
They arrange financing for USA, Canadian, UK and other international patients who plan to have surgery abroad for low cost, as dental and eye surgery is not covered by insurance. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. There are huge cost savings. As a doctor I personally believe that surgery can be easily handled in India, as the quality of healthcare available In India is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.

Hope this helps.
