How do I find out if a vehicle tracking device has been placed on my car?

Where are the places where a vehicle tracking device (homing device, GPRS, etc.), can be placed on a car? How long does it take to stick such a device on the car? What is the battery life? Does it take power from the car battery? If so, how?

Oh...and if for some reason there is one....you can disable it by tazing your car. You know...one of those electric shock tazers for personal protection. Charge it up put it on your car and let it rip....btw it may fry some of your car electronics too.
