If you are that interested, try to get the address of the plant and send them an e-mail or a letter to the public relations department, I am pretty sure they will be nice enough to provide you with the information..

Do you think that Honda Auto Plant will move to another state for a lower wage in the future?

Beacause of that Honda will close the Motorcycle plant next year.

The motorcycle plant moved because its very expensive to operate 2 plants at half capacity compared to 1 at full capacity. Since they see no growth potential (its been falling for years) its not worth it to keep them both.

If you are referring to Marysville Auto Plant its not going anywhere. Its running pretty good as are the other engine plants in the area. Its also only about 20 years old and plants can cost in the billions to build. They would need to lose a huge amount of money or see crashing volumes to close such a new plant.

The Big 3 plants that are closing are mostly 50+ years old and would need a major upgrade even if they needed the volume capacity.

How much $ does a typical UAW worker make at an auto assembly plant?

I've heard everything from $60K per year to $150K. Does anyone know what they start at and what the top end is, and what's typical?

Some of the quotes you are hearing are with Benefits and who tells someone their rate of pay with benefits. I am a nurse & I wouldn't know how to even figure my income with benefits or why I would for that matter? I never hear anyone say I make $10 an hour and if you include my benefits I get $25 per hour. So why do they do that with the auto workers?
The regular assembly line worker makes $14.00 per hour.
My husband is retired GM worker and he just now called the President of our Retiree Chapter in Kansas City who is currently in Detroit for a meeting. To find out for sure.
The other quotes you are hearing are with the whole ball rolled together that is salary and hourly with benefits and they average it. So they are making people think these guys are all making upwards of $70 per hour. That is simply not true.
I have to tell you my husband worked on the Bucket Seat Line at the Fisher Body Plant at the GM Leads it was a metal shed on the roof of an old assembly building with 1 big fan at 1 end and the tempature would go up to over 100 degrees and it stunk like skunk sweat and he was making what people thought was great money back then at $3 per hour in the 60's. His highest hourly pay was close to $15 just before he retired and after he retired it went up more, but then later the Workers gave back $5 per hour to save their health care plan.
I might add 75% of the people that thought my husband was raking in the bucks in the 60's would have never stayed on that job. He only stuck it out, because he loved his family so much and wanted to be sure they had insurance. The UAW has made concessions they are one of the Unions that did. If you want to throw stones at Union workers go ahead, but if wasn't for them in years past we would all be taking breaks on the street off the clock, whenever there power outages or our computers are working.
I remember his Uncle an orginal Union man in UAW and the company would make the men sit out on the sidewalk without pay until the line got going again when it broke down and it did regularly, and you better be there when it started or you wouldn't have a job the next day. Americans need to start buying American again- they need to demand American again. I can't even get a coffee pot that isn't made in China.
Mine broke and I am doing without until I find one made in the USA.

Auto Plant Water-er For An Aquarium?

New postby Dominque » 25 Oct 2012, 12:14

I just bought a big fish tank and will be growing my carnivore plants in it. My question was is their such thing as an auto waterer? i tried searching for one and i feel stupid because i don't know if their is such a thing. Basically i just want something that i could maybe put at the top of the tank, fill with water, and time it to water the plants. Or maybe something similar? Anyways, if anyone knows if anything like that exists or where i could find one, or even the name of one so i can search it on ebay, please gimme a shout. Thanks!

A drip sprinkler on a timer will work. Look at any sprinker supplier online or your neighborhood home center.

Good Luck!

If we help the big auto 3 should they not sell off all overseas plant and concentrate on US Plants and workers?

If retired and present union workers need too, they should take pay cuts along with Corporate big wigs and no Bonus money till they pay back loans from Government. Also we should have us taxpayer representation on the Board of Directors. Government should receive share of the company as collateral

I'm against the bailout, but if we were to help them, at a MINIMUM they need to close/sell the overseas plants. Our money, our workers.

Actually UAW workers force non-union workers to have less job security.

Low wage UAW workers have a 20% higher average pay than a non-union worker with the exact same skills (http://www.cepr.net/documents/publicati ... 008_05.pdf). So this just encourages lower wage workers to join a union for the added benefits.

NOW... Because the UAW can call for a strike of all union workers this is where their power lies. If they get established in a company it is very hard to layoff a union worker because it almost costs more to do so than just keep a lazy worker.
