Need reliable reference for online DNA paternity test kit. What site did you use?

Im looking to buy a paternity test kit online but when i search on yahoo for them there are so many! some promise free shipping, others fast results, etc, etc.
my question is have you or anyone you've known used a particular site that was reliable? i dont want to get ripped off because most of the test run for 99 bucks.
a referal would be great of whichever company/brand/site you used!

and it doesnt need to be a test that i can use in court. its just for personal reasons.

I would check to see which ones also do testing that could be used in court actions.

I am trying to figure out how long it will take to get my results back? The site says 3-5 buisness days. Has anyone ever got them back sooner? I am so stressed about this because I just found out that my dad may not really be my dad. Anxious i guess. any info would help. Thankyou!

There is alot of difference in home paternity test kits. It just depends on the lab you use for the results. They range in price from $99.00 to $175.00. They take anywhere from 2-7 days to come back. Yes - you can do it from home. It will not be valid for a court of law. They cost about $100 and are fairly quick.

Just put DNA paternity test in your search engine- you'll find more than you imagine. FInd one that does at least 14 loci.

The first question you should ask yourself is, "do I need a legally binding test?"

The take home test that you buy online or at walgreens, happy harry's and RiteAid are not legally binding or usable in court. To be usable in court there must be a chain of custody and the lab must have the accreditations required by your state and must (most likely) be a mother/child/father test.

The legally binding test costs 4 or 5 times as much as the non legal test. The costs range from $100 to $630. I went to labcorp and paid $630 for my testing for my daughter and it was a legally binding test.

WASHINGTON (AFP) - A swab, a consent form, an envelope and a waiting period of three to five business days is all there is to settling paternity issues with the test kit that went on sale Wednesday at some US drug stores.

Identigene, which runs a DNA testing laboratory, said its DNA Paternity Test Collection Kit went on sale at the 4,363 Rite Aid drug stores throughout the United States, except New York.

The swab in the kit is used to collect a saliva sample, to be mailed to the Identigene laboratory for an analysis that costs additional 119 dollars.

It takes three to five business days to get the test results, which are delivered by mail, email, or online through a secured Web service.

The paternity test kit is already a hit in California, Washington and Oregon states, where they have been selling on a trial basis since November, Identigene said.

"Demand has been very strong, store sales are brisk and Identigene has been inundated with questions regarding the product's availability," it said in a statement.

Test kit buyers include women who want to know the identity of father of their child - or unborn child - as well as people looking for their parents.

Sold without prescription, the paternity kits are not allowed as evidence in court, where more precise and costly DNA tests are required.

I talked to my lawyer and he said that alot of people resort to that because it is faster than waiting for CCS. Has anyone ever come accross problems? No Maury comments please. It's only funny the first time you hear it. = )

I technically did use one. I think I swabbed my cheek, and then my daughter's cheek to collect our cells. Then I gave it to my then-boyfriend. He told me that he swabbed his cheek and then sent the samples in for testing. But a few weeks later, he admitted to me that he'd never mailed the samples after all. (He knew that the kid was his!)

So even though I have some experience with these home kits, I didn't finish the whole process, so to speak. I have heard that these kits aren't always admissible in court. So they're more for personal peace of mind, instead of pursuing child support through a court. As for myself, I was NOT going to use the kit for legal reasons such as child support...I was trying to prove to my boyfriend's mother that the baby was his, and figured that this was an inexpensive way to do so. She had a hard time accepting it at first, I think.

I can tell you that the home DNA kits are fairly easy to use. I had no problems at all. If you have a personal reason instead of a legal reason, I say go ahead and give it a try.
