Rent Doppler

Do I Have To Get A Docotor Consent To Rent A Doppler?

New postby Krystle » 24 Oct 2012, 17:54

I had a miscarriage early this year. Now i am pregnant again and 18 weeks i am so paranoid and well i think that the doppler would help ease my mind. Are they safe?

I too experienced a m/c (3 actually) and with this pregnancy (I am 15 1/2 weeks) decided to buy a doppler for piece of mind. I didnt need doctors consent and I bought mine on EBAY. I bought one with a digital read of the heart rate which makes it much easier to determine whether I am listening to the babys heart beat or mine. Please do remember though, if you do rent one, that it may not always be easy for you to locate your baby, you need to have patience and try not to let it get you too upset if you have problems at first.

Good Luck!

I know that there are some ultrasound places around my town that rent them. They aren't doctors, just places you may go for a 3d/4d ultrasound. I do believe some doctors will-- it just depends on your area. Good luck!

Where is the best place to rent a fetal doppler system?

New postby Everette » 24 Oct 2012, 17:55

There seems to be lots of different places, I was wondering if anyone has any positive or negative feedback regarding these companies, or can recommend cheapest/best value etc.
Thanks for any input:)

I have been using one from dynamic doppler. It's a great device! I get a great heartbeat everytime I use it. The one I have is the standard unit and it is $22 a month to rent (which is taken from my checking accnt monthly.

I also purchased an extra bottle of gel from them because what you get is not enough.

They ask you if you have Dr. permission to use the device when you go to check out...my Dr. was the one to suggest the device but the company never actually checked to see if my Dr. approved the use of it. (you can read about the approval on the website) Good luck to you

dynamicdoppler.com

Add: There are some dopplers on the market in common stores but you commonly have to be into your 3rd trimester to get a heart tone - you will want a device that is 3Mhz if you are eralier than that :)

Does anyone know where to rent a fetal doppler where you don't need a physician's approval?

I'm not anxious about anything. I think it would be a nice bonding experience to hear the baby's heart beat every once in a while. It's rude to just assume anything about me.

Do you have or rent a Doppler? Does it work? What brand do you have?

I am actually considering buying a Doppler, but I heard that a lot of them don't work good. Can anyone point me in the direction of a good one?

Thanks in advance.

I have an anterior placenta and a history of loss and so on top of general anxiety, at 25 weeks I still can't feel the baby move. My doctor (in practice 30 years) recommended I rent one from Heartones.com. The one with the digital readout is the exact same one uses in his practice, and it comes with a 10 oz. bottle of ultrasound lotion. At first I was apprehensive, but I'm so happy I did it (and so is he, as I'm not calling in a panic anymore). It was $160 for a five-month rental of the digital one or $85 if I'd gotten the non-readout version (I actually rented it for longer so in the days/weeks following delivery I won't be freaking out about being overdue), and if you return it early they prorate your refund. They also don't charge for UPS shipping!

Heartones also sells Dopplers for several hundred dollars; they have a rent-to-own thing so if you decide to buy it after renting it you only have to pay so much more.

I've heard that the ones you can get at major stores (W-Mart etc.) are pretty lousy; to me it was worth it to rent a medical-grade one.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

Where can I rent a fetal doppler?

New postby Noelle » 24 Oct 2012, 17:55

I've looked at some online, but they all say you need to pay the first payment with a credit card. Does anyone know a place I can rent one and send a Money Order?
Do the Wal Mart ones work well? And at 20 weeks?

I'm not sure of any you can send payment in, if you are looking into that payment method, try ebay. When you are finished with the moniter you can make your money back by re-selling it.

Also try amazon. I bought mine off ebay, it's exactly like the doctors, we only pay with money orders. It's not really taht much more then it would be for you to rent itfor a few months, and then you get to make the money (or some of it) back.

Best of luck!

I too have a Bebe sounds one from walmart, it doesn't work until well into the 7 month - says so right on the directions. I couldn't wait, had to get the other one.

Can you rent a Fetal Doppler from your OBGYN?

New postby Filiberto » 24 Oct 2012, 17:55

Do they really and truly work? And how far along do you have to be before you can detect the heartbeat? Do they really and truly work? And how far along do you have to be before you can detect the heartbeat?

You can rent and buy them. Look on ebay under dopplers, they are all over the place on there. Renting or buying you can try babybeat.com, or bellybeats.com.

As far as detecting the heartbeat I think you have to be 12 weeks or more. I heard my baby's heart at 12 weeks with a doppler in office.

I was going to rent one because I thought it would make me feel at ease being able to check on the baby everyday, but I ended up not getting one and pretty soon the baby started moving every day, so that was my reassurance that all is okay.
