Is Penn Foster a good online school for the Veterinary Assistant Program?

I was just wondering. I was really interested and i got the details mailed to me from the school, but i am wondering if it really is wise to do it through the school. Anyone have any experience or have graduated from Penn Foster? Please let me know!

Go to a real school.
Penn Foster is fake!

My wife wanted to do that program, so paid the initial costs. Two months later she got a bill for the supplies (textbooks or whatever) that she supposedly received. She never received them. She complained and they said that they had proof that she received the supplies but wouldn't provide the supposed proof. They said they could send her more for a fee. She said no, she wants to cancel her enrollment. They said that it past the one month time to cancel, and she needed to pay the cancellation fee and the bill for the supplies she never received.
She has contacted the better business bureau.

A lot of people have issues with the fake online schools.
Go to a community college if you can't get into a university.
Good luck.

Try to stay away from online schools if you can. They don't give any hands on experience unless they have a requirement that you work in a clinic while going to school and learn some of the hands-on things.

Most vet tech schools are at community colleges, but you want to pick one that's been accredited by the American veterinary medical association. I've provided the link. You'll want to click on careers in veterinary medicine under the public section. Then you can search by state or choose to see them all.

Online school for veterinary tech?

New postby Bud » 29 Oct 2012, 09:32

How can I find out if an online school is accredited in Georgia? It's called Penn Foster, and they offer an associate for a vet tech. I'm looking at all the Georgia sites and I'm not having any luck. Anybody that can help me out, I'd appreciate it!

I think the online degree would only qualify you to work with sick Webkins as I know I wouldn't take any of my dogs to see a "Vet" with an online degree.

You really need hands on experience to be a good vet tech. Online schools cannot provide that.

Veterinary schools are as hard or harder to get into than medical schools for human doctors. In order to have any chance at admission, you need top grades from a respected college, not online courses from some fly-by-night school. How do you think you can do chem lab, biology lab, physics lab or organic chem lab online? That obviously isn't going to work, is it?

The best you can do is take some general education courses like English, psychology, a foreign language, or history. Then when you get out of the service you can use your GI benefits to pay for a top university education. Be sure to take your online courses from a respected brick-and-mortar school like Penn State or some other real school, not from one of these shabby $$$-sucking fake schools.
