Sounds like you are not a qualified counselor but someone who would enjoy helping people if you could. There are online sites for qualified and licensed counselors. I think you are talking more about a blog where you could interact with people. Blogging is open to everyone. Be careful if you get into this because there are many people out there who have very serious issues and an offhand comment to them might send them over the edge.

How valuable is your advice? How experienced are you in whatever field? Once I was given advice on marriage by the self proclaimed counselor guru who was divorced 4 times.

Your advice must have a substance, deliver results and must be backed by your personal experience. Anything other than that is just a chat. Americans have a saying: "Those who can't do, teach."

Is it possible to be an online Counselor or do online Counseling?

I would like to explore maybe being an online counselor. I live in the state of Illinois. I just graduated with my M.A. in Counseling, and I have my NCC, and will soon have my LPC. Is there a way I can work at home, and get supervison independantly.so I can eventually qualify to get my LCPC? I am unsure about the process.
Any ideas on how I could work at home doing this online or over the phone?

Your best bet is to contact Illinois professional licensing division for LPC's or your graduate schools career serv. dept. However, it is my belief that you cannot get your license working for yourself (doing online counseling or any other counseling for that matter) UNLESS you were to set up a non-profit organization and then actually 'work for' or 'be employed by' it. The other problem is, your 'clients' would have to be self pay because insurance wont pay for unlicense prof. couns. Also consider ethical considerations.. misrepresentation, lack of experience, no liability insurance.. etc. hope this helps, Jeannette, MSW State of Missouri

If you mean "Life coaching", which I think is what a counselor is, you might look at the Wikipedia site below.

Where can I find a mental health counselor online?

I don't have time to go to appointments - does anybody know a good, reasonably priced mental health counselor that I can "talk" with via E-mail? I don't have time to go to appointments - does anybody know a good, reasonably priced mental health counselor that I can "talk" with via E-mail?

Get on the internet and go the home page of your state government's website. They will have a listing of all departments of the state governement and this will include their mental health licensing division. They can provide you with names/referrals.
Also- go to www.APA.com which is the official website for all licensed pychologists.
Go to www. AAMFT.org which is official website for all licensed marriage and family therapists.
Go to www. NASW.org, official website of all licensed social workers.
All of these sites will gladly provide your referrals to licensed therapists in your area.
Good luck!!

To the best of my knowledge, you can't. While many counseling programs offer courses online, a great many counseling courses, by their nature, can only be conducted in a face-to-face format. If you think about it, this makes perfect sense because counseling is a very face-to-face experience.

My suggestion is to go online and look for counseling programs near where you live, and see from their posted curricula how many classes are online, and how many are face-to-face. But whatever you do, PLEASE investigate. There are a lot of phony degree-mills online nowadays. They'll promise you an online degree in anything. You pay the fee and only discover after the fact that no state will recognize if for licensing. Be careful.

Hope this helps.

Your marriage doesn't mean much to you if you're looking for counseling online.
Marriages and religious differences , try any type of church , synagogue , etc.
