I am looking for hosted help desk software what will maintain help tickets, hardware and software inventory?

The software must provide dashboard/analytics capabilities as well as the ability to e-mail issues into the hosted environment to manage tickets.

U can just drag and drop the 'My Computer' icon onto the quick launch toolbar on the left bottom corner (near the start menu).

When contacting a software help desk, do you prefer that you speak with an American or an Indian rep?

Trying to figure out if people find American based software support help desks better or worse in terms of service than those based in India. Trying to settle a friendly argument between me and a friend.

I personally prefer American because of the language barrier. Not all are rude, and if they are you can call them out on it by asking for a manager.

I've come to the conclusion that there are no managers in India.

Huh? Is that the whole question? I've picked them up before, but I don't think that's something you care about.

What's the benefit of using a help desk software for the company? Is it costly?

That depends on the volume of help desk demand there is. Help desk software is going to help you/your team log, track, and resolve issues more efficiently. However, the systems are not only expensive to purchase, they can be very difficult to transition to from the traditional call/response paradigm most companies still use.

The Service Desk Edition is identical to the retail packaged version, just simpler packaging.

The different packaging is because it was packaged for retailers' "Service Desks" to provide the same product in a smaller box than a Retail product which comes in a much bigger box
