Check with your state department of education. Some online degree programs are ligit, others are scams. Before you begin, make sure it is recognized by your state dept. of ed.

There are a couple of universities that provide online instructions in various disciplines.

First and foremost is the Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) that has a huge line of online course offerings. (http://www.aiou.edu.pk/). It is a pioneer of distance learning in Pakistan.

Secondly, there is the recently established Virtual University (http://www.vu.edu.pk/) that also has several diploma and bachelor degree programs. It has a BA in psychology degree, too.

These are the first two universities that come to my mind. They are chartered and well-established. May be some newer ones have started in the past few years but I am not aware of them.

Why do you want to do this? If you want to work in schools then you need to engage with schools and school children. This will help you to know if it's the right thing for you. You can't learn to swim or ride a bike without doing it.

If your focus is education management then a remote degree would be apt, but only if you already had practical experience to put it into context.

Top schools like Harvard, Oxford, UC-Berkeley, Stanford, Duke, Berklee Music, etc... teach online. It's not 1981 any longer.

I surfed around Brown's pages and did not see a degree in education offered by distance.

Hey everyone. I was just wondering if anyone knew of an accredited online university where I can earn a Bachelor Degree in Education? I would like to teach grades K-8. I would prefer to go to a state university but I guess I can't be to picky. Thanks for any info!

I would look into the University of Phoenix. They have an Education AA program, so I would presume that they have a Bachelor's program for it as well.

There may be. But be sure to check with the licensing board in your state. Some boards do not accept online courses in your particular field. If this is the case, you will have the education, but ineligible to be licensed to teach in your state.
